About

Finding extraordinary beauty in the common-place. Creating beauty out of the ordinary. Whether painting landscapes or still lifes, creating collages, or repurposing vintage textiles, Christy’s art reminds us of the beauty found all around us every day.

Christy Gallaher’s sensitive acrylic paintings engage the senses, serving as a poignant reminder of our deep connection with the natural world.  She draws inspiration from the beauty found in the wild spaces of Texas, and the Mountain West.  Her soft strokes and rich colors evoke a sense of peace and calm that beckons the viewer to connect outdoors.  Christy's work invites the viewer to stay and pause a while, just as if in nature itself.  Christy is influenced by the paintings of Walton Ford, Claude Monet, Andrew Wyeth and Riem Poortvliet, all which portray natural beauty and the stories found there.  She earned a fine art degree in painting and drawing from Stephen F. Austin State University and has since balanced family life and expanding her artistic gifts.  In addition to acrylic painting, Christy regularly works in watercolors, cyanotypes, and textiles.  Christy loves sharing her knowledge of art through group and private art lessons for all ages and abilities.
